Hi everyone, I hope you're doing well and ready for this new French video.
Today we're going to look at an expression together.
This expression is "faire les cent pas" (to walk a hundred steps).
Tell me in the comments if you've heard it before or even used it yourself.
This expression actually means what it says - you walk back and forth a lot while waiting for something. You're impatient for something to happen, or you're stressed. You might be waiting for news, for instance.
You walk and "faire les cent pas" - pacing back and forth while waiting. It helps make the time pass faster. Let me give you some examples. They'll help you better understand the expression and especially use it yourself if you've never used it before. For example, if my grandfather had surgery and I'm at the hospital waiting for news, I could say I'm "faisant les cent pas" in the hospital corridors waiting for news about my grandfather.
I'm a bit stressed, so I walk to help the time pass faster. Here's a second, slightly happier example. "Je fais les cent pas" since 8 PM. I'm throwing a party tonight and my guests are already 30 minutes late, so pacing helps me be patient. I prefer to be moving rather than waiting standing still. And finally, here's one last example. "Je fais les cent pas" since this morning, waiting for the exam results.
That's it for today. I hope you enjoyed this video. If so, as always, don't forget to give it a thumbs up. If you're new here, subscribe to the channel. It helps me a lot and, most importantly, you won't miss any videos. See you very soon!
