Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well and ready for a new video where we'll look at a French expression.
You may have guessed it - today we're going to look at the expression "tourner la page" (to turn the page).
I don't know if you know this expression. It simply means to move on, to move forward. You could even say you're closing the book.
It means you're moving on to a new chapter in your life, or that you're leaving something or someone behind.
Here are some examples to help you better understand the expression.
I forgot to mention - make sure to turn on subtitles, they'll help you understand the video better.
Let's move on to the examples now.
For instance, I could say: Greg has completely "tourne la page" with Maeva. It's over, he doesn't love her anymore, and he'll never get back together with her.
Here's another example.
For instance, if I have a friend who was a singer in her youth, I could ask her: Don't you miss your singing career? And she could answer: No, I've completely "tourne la page" on my singing career. Now I'm a chef and I love my new profession. I've moved on - it's behind me.
That's it for today.
Feel free to tell me in the comments what expressions you'd like me to explain or put into context.
If you liked this video, don't forget to give it a thumbs up, and see you very soon for a new video. Have a great day!
