Pain au chocolat or chocolatine?

You certainly know the love of the French for gastronomy.

For years, a "great debate" has been animating France. This debate concerns a vocabulary word. The French do not agree on the name of a famous pastry.

In the South-West of France, like in Bordeaux or Toulouse, the word "chocolatine" is used. Everywhere else, the French say "pain au chocolat".

Does this conflict seem stupid to you? Yet it is real! For the inhabitants of the South-West of France, it is a real regional claim! They want this appellation to be recognized throughout France.

As a joke, some bakeries in this region charge a little more to customers who ask for "a pain au chocolat" instead of a chocolatine. On social networks, there are also very regular jokes and debates on this subject.

You are now warned if you come to France on vacation, not all French people eat "pains au chocolat".
