La Fête de la musique was born in France
La Fête de la musique takes place every year on June 21st. This day is also usually the first day of summer and the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. Today, this celebration is observed in about a hundred countries.
Yet it was indeed in France that it was invented. It took place for the very first time in 1982. The idea came from Jack Lang, the Minister of Culture at the time. Every year, musicians set up in the streets, bars, parks, public squares, train stations... and play music. You can hear every style of music late into the night.
This celebration is a great way to discover new artists or lesser-known performers.
