Roundabout paradise
Did you know? France has half of all the roundabouts on the planet. There are somewhere between 30,000 and 40,000 ronds-points in the country. The love story between France and roundabouts shows no signs of ending, as the country builds between 500 and 800 new ones every year. Some ronds-points have practically become works of art.
In the center, you can often see various decorations such as sculptures, flowers, plastic cows, light displays... Unsurprisingly, the inventor of the roundabout was a French architect named Eugène Hénard. The first ronds-points were created in Paris over a hundred years ago.
